Series Recap: Kate Daniels the Basics

kate

Ever love a series so very much that whenever a new book is released you want to re-read it from the beginning to relive why the series is so great? The World of Kate Daniels is a series that does not disappoint. Between Kate – the no-nonsense, feral grin merc who stabs first and diplomats later (maybe) and her cadre of cohorts, enemies and allies there is never a moment when things are “easy”.

But who needs easy when you can have a paranoid psychopath ready to swoop in to rescue you…while you yell at him for doing just that?

With Book 9, MAGIC BINDS, due out September 20th I wanted to give y’all a taste…with as few spoilers as I can manage since I really do want all of you to read this series. If at any time you want to read the official synopsis/information on the world from the authors themselves head on over to the wiki page for that..

The Guild Games: Join Today!

Have you heard about Elise Kova’s new series launching in January 2017? The Loom Saga starts off with THE ALCHEMISTS OF LOOM, a dark story of vengeance, family and politics that quite frankly sends shivers down my reading spine.

In prep for the Loom Saga Elise has created the Guild Games – once upon a time the Guilds resisted the Dragon King, but they fell, leaving a lot of broken pieces behind. Now as we gear up for the launch we’re working to make the Guilds the power they once were.

You are guaranteed to not only find at least ONE exclusive item for your favored fandom, but a dozen new to you friends who also love that fandom. I’ve never been, but I follow the news coming from those lucky gidgets who do get to go. Rabidly some might say.

Yesterday I covered the TV Highlights I was excited for, so today let’s talk about the movie highlights! Continue reading “#SDCC2016 Highlights (Part 2: Movies)”

#SDCC2016 Highlight: BLACK PANTHER

Black Panther

I’m not even going to play – you want excited? Let me tell you about the excitement I feel over Marvel’s forthcoming Black Panther movie. I was originally excited when I heard they had cast Chaswick Boseman as T’Challa, my gorgeous Prince from a secret country. From what I saw of Boseman he looked like T’Challa; right build, right facial expressions, damn dapper in a suit. When I saw Civil War I could barely contain my glee as he was introduced. He sounded like my T’Challa. Eloquent, dry sense of humor and fiercely protective of his country.

I spent most of the rest of CW bouncing in my chair whenever he came on the screen. You guys I’m not joking when I say that the pre-teen inside of me–the girl who used his name to learn how to properly pronounce the letter ‘t’, ‘ch’ and ‘l’, who doggedly named him any time the kids around her talked about comics–was dancing with joy. If Barry Allen is my favorite guy in DC, T’Challa is my favorite guy in Marvel and I needed his first foray into the live action universe to be nailed.

And he was, oh my goodness he was.

Now at SDCC they unveiled a whole LOT of info about the movie (including the cast!). So expect me to go into overdrive mode when filming begins in January 2017 (which…hey where’s it being filmed…) so let’s break down what we know now ok? Continue reading “#SDCC2016 Highlight: BLACK PANTHER”

#SherlockedSunday: Portia Adams Adventures

sherlocked

Are you missing Sherlock Holmes as much as me? Does Benedict Cumberbatch’s sharp cheekbones and exasperated remarks about how dull we are all being fill your thoughts? Well my friends welcome to my problems.

While by no means the fiercest fan of Doyle’s lofty detective, I am still quite enamored of his exploits and the interpretations that have sprung up inspired by him. After all rumor has it that fanfiction for Sherlock is amongst the earliest examples of fans disagreeing with the creator and producing fan work that fits within their mindset better.

Until the new series premieres (“sometimes in 2017”) I thought every so often I’d examine one of the many adaptations that I have in my collection. If nothing else it will give me a reason to used “I am SHERlocked” right? Continue reading “#SherlockedSunday: Portia Adams Adventures”

#BlogBoundCon Panel 3: Publicists & Bloggers

Moderator: Nicole Brinkley
Panelists: Ksenia Winnicki, Lizzy Mason, & Emma Carbone

Publicists often complain that bloggers don’t do what they want; bloggers often complain that publicists don’t understand them. At this panel, bloggers will have a chance to talk to publicists about what it is that they find most helpful and expect from them, and publicists will have a chance to talk to bloggers about how to make their lives easier and what the best way to work with them is. The panel, moderated by Nicole Brinkley, will start with a twenty-minute Q&A before dissolving into a round-table discussion between everybody in the room.
