I am absolutely, and terribly, crappy at taking pictures. I always forget, so excuse this post for the lack of fun images of all the authors I met. Usually I try to be as fast as I can when getting my book signed because there are always over 50 people at each of my lines and I know they have other things to get to (unless the author has a short line and then I’ll be talkative). Sans pictures I shall link back to the authors titles’ Goodreads pages.

Thursday was the first full day at BEA, so I woke up at the crack of dawn (I am always the first to wake up and then wake up everybody around me–I had 5 roommates in my room so we all had to plan accordingly when it came to showers, etc.) even though I didn’t actually go with the crowd and do the line to get on the floor.

HARLEQUIN TEEN BREAKFAST

Instead I attended the Harlequin Teen breakfast, which is a tradition by now and usually one of the best parts of attending BEA. This year did not disappoint in the least!

Adi talked to us about his upcoming novel: Never, Always, Sometimes.

 

Eleanor Herman, author of Legacy of Kings: Coolest author ever! She dressed up for the event and it was a highlight. She is also super sweet and told us some very interesting historical facts (like how people back in the day used to use pee to clean their teeth… Yeah, that part got edited out of her book).

Also in attendance (even though sorry I forgot to take pics!) were Jennifer Armentrout, promoting Every Last Breath (her highly anticipated conclusion to the Dark Elements trilogy), and contemporary goddess Katie McGarry, promoting Nowhere But Here.

I love Harlequin titles so this breakfast was a highlight for me, specially since it will be my last for a while. We also got to meet Harlequin editors and publishers and they spoke to us about some upcoming titles that I am dying to get my hands on including: Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross, Storm by Amanda Sun, and Daughters Unto Devils by Amy Lukavics.

THE FLOOR: DAY TWO

After finishing up at the Harlequin breakfast I headed over to the floor (which thankfully people were already inside the exhibit floor so no line to get in).

The second day was my most chill day. I went around, went to like 15 signings overall (which is a slow day for BEA) and just walked around aimlessly for the rest of the day. I skipped the big Libba Bray signing (it was for a sequel and I hadn’t read the first book) as well as the Marissa Meyer signing (confession: haven’t read Cinder, even though I bought it and its sequel).

My crazier signings for the day were for MacMillan of course; I was really excited about All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders, Last Song Before Night by Ilana Myer, and Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford (this one was a drop). Other than I was very excited that I got to meet Wendy Higgins, author of Sweet Evil! I have loved and supported her series since day one so I was very excited to finally meet her and tell her how awesome she is ❤

THE BOOK HAUL PART 2

Highlights of the day (other than the ones I already mentioned):

• I Crawl Through it by A.S. King (Four talented teenagers are traumatized-coping with grief, surviving date rape, facing the anxiety of standardized tests and the neglect of self-absorbed adults–and they’ll do anything to escape the pressure–Goodreads Summary)
• Lois Lane: Fallout by Gwenda Bond (Lois Lane becomes a YA heroine!)
• The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson (I think Tor just wins overall, they have many good titles coming out).
